ETHICAL & SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES
As a Melbourne CBD based catering company, Essoign Events understands the increasing need and demand for sustainability
in the catering industry. Essoign Events has shifted its focus into the development of sustainable and ethical practices while edging into its 13th year of operation.
SUSTAINABLE CATERING
- Reusable cutlery and crockery is used as opposed to single use disposable cutlery and plates
- Menus are discussed in detail with clients to ensure numbers of attendees are known in advance to assist with the ordering process and portion control
- Whole fruit is suggested for all day catering to assist with the prevention of food wastage
- Food and linen deliveries are planned and coordinated to assist with reducing the global footprint (i.e transport fuel)
- Portion control is factored in and pre-protioned food items helps reduce variation in size and assist with wastage
- Unecessary decoration is not used on catering buffets, unless requested by or supplied by the client
- Food produce is used over a number of dishes to eliminate wastage where possible
- Products supplied in recyclable packaging
- Food is stored in air tight containers
- Stock is rotated and monitored to limit spoilage
- Fresh and healthy items are available and our exibility allows us to cater a menu to our clients particular needs and wants
- Food is stored appropriately to ensure quality and shelf life
- Recyclable brown paper bags are used at the café/ restaurant for takeaway sandwiches and wraps
- Giving preference to locally sourced and seasonally available produce, the majority of which is produced on site
